What have you been doing for the last 10 years?:
I continued to work in mutual funds, did some traveling and met my future husband. Within the last four years I decided to pursue a different career path. So, I returned to school for a doctorate in French history. The experience of being a student again has been challenging but so much more interesting than business.
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
After graduating with a degree in International Affairs from MSU, I moved to Denver to attend grad school for my MA. To my surprise, I am still here! After school, I worked for several years for a Denver based mutual fund company.
From Kelly:
Happily, I will be in Paris this summer doing research but unhappily, I will not be able to make it to our reunion. Have a great time - I am sad to miss it. Thanks for putting the site and event together.

What have you been doing for the last 10 years?:
In the last ten years I have been working in IT field as a contractor for the U.S. Army both in Adelphi, MD and now in Orlando, FL. It pays the bills, but the excitement factor is quite low. I am still with my wife of almost 13 years now and my son (10) both help make my life more interesting than my job ever could. Living in Orlando is nice mainly because of the warm weather. I wish we lived a bit further from the Disney/Universal and the other tourist attractions because my wife is just at much as a kid as my son and because of that fact that damn Mickey Mouse has more of my money than he should. My wife decided to go back to school several years back and has just completed her course work in her doctoral program in curriculum and instruction at the University of Central Florida. Life has been very busy and at times crazy, however very enjoyable during the past 10 years.
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
The first 10 years after high school seems like a lifetime ago. I received a full-ride basketball scholarship to a small Junior College in Idaho and left Michigan to start my college life. I was there a year and took 2 years away from school to work in Venezuela. I returned to the Junior College, graduated and was offered a full-ride basketball scholarship to play at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. I only had two years of eligibility, so I played there two years and graduated in 2 (I took quite a hit in credit hours from the transfer from the JC to Wake). My basketball talent grew quite a bit during those years, however I fell burnt out after my time at Wake and turned down a few invitations to attend some NBA camps (that was probably the most idiotic thing I have ever done in my life). I didnt do anything for about 6 months, decided that basketball wasnt such a bad idea and I got a job in Sligo, Ireland playing hoops. I loved Ireland, didnt like the basketball aspect of it much and declined to return for the next season (second most idiotic thing I ever did). I moved to Columbia, MD, got married to my girlfriend I met at Wake Forest U and started doing the 9-5 thing. It wasnt a year later and I missed basketball, tried to get a paying gig playing, but it never worked out. Got into computer work and that has been it since. I did attend the reunion back in 97 and really enjoyed seeing and trying to recognize former classmates. It makes me wish I had kept in touch with more former Chieftains.

Worked for the Dept of Justice for awhile and then for the Senate Judiciary Committee. Am now at the SEC where I did enforcement work and currently am counsel to a Commissioner. Meanwhile, we had Natalie and then Mitch, both of whom are a blast to be around and have great little sea legs!
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
Went to MSU and got a useless degree. Moved to DC to work for a non-profit for violent crime victims. Went to night law school and worked at a local DA's office. Met my wife Jennifer, got hitched, and finished law school. Picked up Rugby and sailing along the way, and then Jen and I moved to Annapolis where she started a business.
From Matt:

I may be able to come by the friday event but if not hope everyone has a great time.

What have you been doing for the last 10 years?:
After a few years of professional nomadism, I seem to have settled down in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1997 I was in the first year of what would be a 2 1/2 year fellowship at a national laboratory in a suburb of Washington, D.C. (studying flame inhibition chemistry). After that I returned to Northern California (Livermore, 60 miles east of SF) for a fellowship at a different national laboratory (studying how plant material like alfalfa or wood burns). Then I made a dramatic change in sector (from public to private), technical area (combustion to diesel engine pollution control), and geography (Washington, DC to the Southern California city of Ventura). The change didn't go so well: the company went bankrupt a year after I joined. Fortunately, a company working in the same technical field was formed in the San Francisco Bay Area soon after the bankruptcy, and I've been there since July 2001. My job in a nutshell: cleaning up diesel engines (www.cleaire.com).
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
I spent almost all of that time in school: 4 years at the University of Illinois, 5 1/2 years at the University of California, Berkeley, ending up with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. When I attended the 10 year reunion I had just started a position at a national laboratory in the Washington, DC.

What have you been doing for the last 10 years?:
Quit GM to work for a supplier, after 3 months, quit that job to move to another supplier. Andrea was promoted to a manager position with her company, destination, Charlotte, NC. I worked in TN for 9 months, leaving every Monday at 5AM and returning Friday at 5PM. Took a job with my current job to stay at home more, wrong, managed to get Platinum level on two airlines while starting up a supplier in China. Andrea was promoted again, requiring a move to PA. After two years with non stop travel (stayed with my current company) decided to move back to Charlotte, where my company is headquartered. We are currently building what we hope will be our dream house, and we plan on staying settled for some time in the South. We have also decided to adopt a little girl from China, and that has taken up quite a bit of time, we are currently in limbo, as we wait for the Chinese government to process all our paperwork. I still love to travel, so Andrea and I have been to Europe quite a bit, my company is headquartered in Germany, so I am able to combine business trips with vacations. We have also learned to scuba dive which has been great for seeing the tropical part of the world.
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
Graduated from Mich. Tech. Worked for GM, while I got my Masters Degree. Got married to a wonderful person, whom I am very happy with.

What have you been doing for the last 10 years?:
Contrary to all of the good works and noble careers that most of you have pursued, I am a slave to the 'man' (as in corporate America). I started working for Monsanto in 1999 as a corn breeder and now work in soybeans bringing new transgenic crop technology to the market place in the US and South America. Todd Eaton and I got married Dec. 31, 1999, 2 days after his dad, Ron, died of lung cancer. Ron was one of the greatest OHS sports fans and the host of many class of '87 driveway parties. We miss him. Unfortunately Todd and I divorced but still keep in touch. He bought a motorcycle and I bought a bicycle. Maybe he will contribute an entry but I will put a picture up in case he doesn't.
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
After high school, I pursued a BS from University of Texas and then continued graduate school at Michigan State receiving MS and PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics (I worked on pinto and kidney beans).
