After a brief stint in Kansas City for my husband's job, we are back in Cincinnati, where we've been since we got married in 1992. Currently, I'm working on my Masters-Social Work at the University of Cincinnati in order to get into counseling work with families. Before kids, I worked in advertising/public relations for the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal. My parents and two brothers live in Williamston so we get back to visit quite often.

What have you been doing for the last 10 years?:
I played Beach Volleyball for 12 years on several tours all over the World - AVP, FIVB and Olympic Qualifying Tours. Retired in 2004 and now work and live with my soon to be fiance' Sandra in Hollywood, CA. Still very active with athletics, travel, piano, and growing my company.
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
I ran track at Eastern Michigan, traveled for 3 years and then played Indoor Volleyball at Michigan State. Graduated in 1997 and moved to California to play Beach Volleyball full time. I am part owner of a Sales and Marketing Development Company in Marina Del Rey, California.

What have you been doing for the last 10 years?:
Finishing residency and working in the Emergency Deparment at Sparrow - becoming a senior partner in my group. Entertained daily by the unusual predicaments people find themselves in that brings a steady stream of interesting people to the ED - never a dull moment. Public Service Announcement: Seat belts really do save lives - trust me. Always, always wear one. Best travel to date (a.k.a my recommendations): 1. Trekking in the Himalayas (Anapurna Circuit); 2. Climbing to the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge at night; 3. Italy - the entire country. Best part of life right now: sitting on a rocking chair on our front porch watching my son play in the front yard while my daughter giggles in my lap. Biggest accomplishment so far: Figuring out what's most important in life. Fun hobby = Architectural design. Helping design the new ED being built at Sparrow. Designed our current house from a blank piece of paper.
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
Retrospectively a shocking amount of studying. It is all a blur of books, anatomy labs, number two pencils, and titrating just the right amount of caffeine versus Benadryl. Took 6 months after residency to just detox. myself off caffeine: not for the faint-hearted.

What have you been doing for the last 10 years?:
Trying to stay sane and out of the hospital! Worked as co owner and operator of our family group day care home for 15 yrs, and for Okemos Public Schools as a Parapro for 8 yrs. I've had numerous health problems/surgeries/hospitalizations (45 surgeries to date...one of which was the day after that fuzzy headed senior pic of mine haha) which hasn't allowed me to work as much as I would have liked. I'm still trying to find fitting employment that I can do from home. My kids have been my rock and helped me to keep going. They've both been heavily involved in sports (and scouts of which I was a leader for both) and that has been really exciting for me. It's been really odd for me to see them in high school (my son graduated May 2007, daughter will in 2009) and I often think, "I can't have kids in high school, didn't I just graduate?" I am now living with a man I dated when I was 18 and he was 16. We were together for a while until I met the one who became my husband and father of my kids. We divorced in 1996 and haven't seen him since. I may get married again, but for now, Ron and I live no differently than married couples! Now, if I can make another 50 lbs disappear, I plan on seeing you all this summer!!

It took me a while to find an acceptable career. I have now been at Consumers Energy for 8.5 years. I married Laura in 1995 and we had our first child (Danny) in 1998. Nickolas followed in 2000 and Bradley in 2003. Family life keeps me very busy, but I could not be happier with the way my life is going. For fun, we go camping, to car shows, and occasionally hunting and fishing.

In the shell of a nut: Moved from Port Townsend, WA to Seattle to quench my thirst for urban living/music. Taught ESL to Nursing Assistants for awhile before deciding to give the corporate thing a shot as a Broadcast Producer, hated the corporate thing. Sailed the Atlantic from Portugal to Barbados. Had a Western themed shotgun wedding (minus the shotgun) and 3 months later had my son, Ollie. Got divorced a year later. Bought a bungalow in Seattle. I have been a Research Specialist studying alternative medicine at an HMO for the last 3 years and loving being a parent.
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
Received a BA in Cultural Anthropology from CU Boulder, studied in Kenya for one semester. Moved to Port Townsend, made hand dipped candles, worked with drug addicted teens as a wilderness guide in Oregon and at a half way house for boys, researched shellfish around the Puget Sound and deforestation in Mexico, travelled in Kenya, Europe, Vietnam, Cental America, sailed the Caribbean and the Puget Sound, and explored the Pacific Northwest.

Wow! I'm so glad that Garden of the Gods is just a jaunt away! My kids and I have been in Colorado for almost two years now and we absolutely love the mountains and the sunshine. I work for a small private practice in Internal Medicine, primarily caring for elderly patients with complicated medical problems. Spent six years in the tundra of Wisconsin near Green Bay before getting the opportunity to move out here and after fininshing residency at U-M. I have to remind myself that Okemos is really home, having spent almost as many years in Ann Arbor with my nose to the grindstone as I did growing up in Okemos...Bachelor's in Cellular and Molecular Biology, MD from the med school there, etc. Originally, I had planned to go into genetic research and spent summers working for the Upjohn Company (now Pharmacia, I think) doing DNA sequencing. Fortunately, I just couldn't imagine being holed up in a lab for days and nights on end and finally found my niche in med school. When I do get a chance to enjoy the mountains, I'm usually trail running with my Golden Retriever or hiking. A friend almost convinced me to run the Pike's Peak marathon this year but Detroit and Boston's races were enough for me. I'm still working on getting the kids to hike with me without being expected to give them "piggyback" rides after 100 yards! Looking forward to catching up with all at the reunion...

I have been teaching at Chippewa Middle School (Old OHS) and coaching girls basketball and volleyball... two sports where my height has been used to the fullest. Another kid came along, rounding out the family picture. He's now in school and Mr. Cooley (remember him???) says he acts just like I did back at Central El. Is that good?
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
I graduated from MSU on the 5 year plan with a degree in business, despite the fact that I didn't see myself following that career path. I moved, along with Steve Witter, to Seattle where I flipped pizzas for a few months. After touching my toes in the Pacific, I moved back to lovely Detroit where I pursued a degree in Social Studies so that I could teach. I got married and promptly accepted a teaching position in Grand Junction, Colorado. Lived out west for three years...acquired a great dog and a great daughter, then moved back to Michigan.

Deceived MSU into accepting me into medical school. Then fooled them into graduating me. Currently I have just finished residency and I'm in the process of opening a medical clinic near Nashville, TN. Along the way, Kara Cyrill has continued to put up with me and has given me two beautiful little rodents . . . Alec and Cameron.
What did you do for the 10 years after OHS?:
Continued to drink beer at an exceptional pace. Kara and I lived the gypsy lifestyle going from Phoenix, Nantucket Island, Hilton Head and Steamboat Springs. I managed to graduate from MSU undergrad in less than 10 years . . . . I needed something to brag about at the last reunion!

Teaching Drafting and Coaching Track & Field at Fowler High School. Also, painting houses in the summer, and playing as much golf as possible.

I Went to L.C.C to play golf, and then to Western Michigan to get my Teaching degree. After WMU I was a Teacher at Ravenna High School for 2 years. I wanted to move back to the area so I applied at Fowler and got the job.
